Why I wrote my first novel, Eve’s Destiny

Many people have asked me, “What made you decide to write a novel?” “Have you always wanted to be an author?” The fact is, becoming a writer wasn’t something that I ever thought of doing. Having the capability to express myself on paper did not come naturally to me, but I’m the type of person who likes to challenge myself to accomplish things that seem too daunting. I had to work very diligently to improve that skill and eventually, I became very accomplished in writing 50-page research papers in college and graduate school.

It wasn’t until many years later that I even considered writing beyond school assignments. Since I have a creative side, I decided to up the ante and attempt to write a novel. To produce an entire storyline filled with characters that I, alone, created. If I could do that, it would be amazing. What an accomplishment that would be. A true test of how far I had come with my writing ability and to become a published author!

I just had to decide what type of novel to produce. I admit it, I’m a hopeless romantic and I truly believe that there is someone out in the world for everyone to share their life with as long as you’re open to finding that special person. I’ve always been an avid reader of romance and action books, so it stood to reason that I should write a Contemporary Romance novel, thus the birth of Eve’s Destiny.

In Eve’s Destiny, Eve Townsend and Detective Michael McGarrett are drawn to each other and are fated to experience a great love. In the beginning, new relationships can be all hearts and flowers, but like all relationships, they eventually face challenges. I wanted to create a story that portrayed not only the circumstances of how a couple fell in love but also how they would handle trials and tribulations that could potentially threaten their newfound relationship, and hopefully come out of the other side together and intact. How do couples deal with tragedy, misunderstandings, lies, hurt or fear of abandonment? Can they survive without being in each other’s lives and will they make their way back to each other, their one true love?

Eve’s Destiny is the first book in a series and throughout the series, Mike and Eve face some of these challenges and are forced to tackle questions and discover the answers in order to preserve their destiny. So fall in love with the characters of Eve’s Destiny and continue to follow Mike and Eve’s journey as they navigate their love story.

You wrote a most enjoyable book Renee! I read it in a day when I was laid up with a back issue and got fully involved with the plot and characters. I was also impressed how you set up the sequel with characters looming towards the end. How are you progressing with the sequel? I am sure you will develop a ton of fans following the lives of Mike and Eve! Have fun writing cause I know I had fun reading your work!!

I’m so glad you enjoyed Eve’s Destiny, Ian. I hope your back is feeling better. I’ve already written a lot for the second book and my hopes are to complete it within the next couple of months. Thanks for your support. It’s much appreciated.
